William H. Rodman, 81, Gardnerville, died Tuesday, Aug. 9, 2010 at Renown in Reno.

Born Oct. 17, 1928, in Angels Camp, Calif., to John F. Rodman and Beulah Slankard Rodman of southern Illinois, he attended schools in Calavaras County until he moved to San Jose and graduated from San Jose High School where he excelled as a champion wrestler. After his graduation in 1946 he then attended San Jose State College.

He owned a wholesale meat company in Redding, Calif., and worked as a meat cutter for many years. Bill lived at Lake Tahoe for 13 years where he retired from Raleys, before moving to Gardnerville in 1991.

Mr. Rodman was known for his love of his dogs, skiing, fishing, San Francisco 49er's and the San Francisco Giants. After retiring he spent many hours working in his yard and garden. He was active in Christ Presbyterian Church of Gardnerville.

He was preceded in death by his brother Jack of Illinois and brother, Michael of Idaho.

He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Charlene of Gardnerville; son Stan of Santa Fe, N.M.; daughter Cindy (Ed) Baker of Corning, Calif.; stepsons Henry (Katherine) Willrich, Erick (Anita) Willrich of Reno; sister Johanne (Duane) Gunderson of Idaho; and grandchildren Camron, Travis, Keira, Emma and Amanda.

Services were Aug. 21, 2010, at Christ Presbyterian Church in Gardnerville. Contributions may be made to Christ Presbyterian Church or the charity of your choice.

Arrangements are in the care of Walton's Sierra Chapel of Reno.
