Since the Record-Courier printed an appeal for Carson Valley produce for the Nevada exhibit at the Panama-Pacific exposition, we learn that L. Ruhenstroth, F. Heise, H. Wennhold and Dr. F.H. Brown have responded and sent a liberal supply of fresh produce for exhibit. Produce of all kids, including potatoes, corn and vegetables of any kind will be thankfully received, also honey.

Valley numbers. According to the census bureau at Washington, D.C., relative to the number of farms in Nevada, Douglas County is listed with 135 farms at the time the 1930 census was taken.
When the Douglas County high school opened Tuesday, 88 students enrolled, with five applications on file of those who will enter within the next few days. In addition to this number a least six additional students will enter the high school during the next week and the total enrollment will reach close to 100. The Gardnerville grammar school has a total enrollment of 106 while the Minden grammar school has 106.

Decision to push hard for a completely paved Kingsbury Grade was made by the Douglas County Chamber of Commerce at its Tuesday meeting. Members plan to approach the county commissioners with a request to get surfacing underway as soon as possible, and they will have concrete facts to back them when they appear. An engineer will be hired to make a survey of the grade, and to report on the possibilities of paving it.

Backers of a recall movement involving Gardnerville Town Board member Robbie Oxoby have collected 280 signatures, giving them 79 names more than they needed to make the petition valid. Oxoby has inflamed the towns 21 volunteer firefighters and others by insisting on opening up the fire station's meeting room and kitchen for public use.

Douglas schools may end up with a loss of between 120-200 students on count day this year, which will mean a loss of $497,040 to $848,400 from the state next year. The school district will receive state funds based on the number of students enrolled on count day, Sept. 22. This year, the district received $4,142 per student.
