Temple Bat Yam, serving South Lake Tahoe, Carson City, Dayton, and Carson Valley, welcomes members and visitors to join in observance of the Jewish New Year of 5771 (Rosh Hashanah) and the Day of Atonement (Yom Kippur) from the evening of Sept. 8 through Sept. 18.

Considered the most important period of the Jewish year, the temple observes 12 services and events during the 10-day High Holy Days period. Four of the 12 services are designed for families with children.

Services are led by the temple's spiritual leader Rabbi Jonathan Freirich. The rabbi is assisted by Cantor Jim Heilborn, spiritual leader and cantor of the Shalom Group in Lincoln Hills, Calif.

Guests may join temple members in having names of deceased loved ones read aloud at the Yizkor memorial service. Provide names at any prior service.

Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur services will be conducted at Temple Bat Yam, 3260 Pioneer Trail, South Lake Tahoe, Calif., unless otherwise noted.
