U.S. Navy veteran Robert "Bob" Eugene Ocamb, 74, died Oct. 30, 2010, in Gardnerville.

Born Sept. 26, 1936, in Kansas City, he relocated with his family to Phoenix, where he attended Phoenix Union High School.

After high school, he entered the U.S. Navy in 1956 and served aboard the aircraft carrier USS Philippine Sea.

After the service, Mr. Ocamb drove trucks up and down the Owens Valley and in the Reno-Tahoe area until he retired a few years ago.

He married Marjorie Divine Ocamb on Sept. 26, 1987. The couple lived in the Minden-Gardnerville area for 24 years.

He enjoyed the outdoors, loved driving trucks and was an avid angler and champion trap shooter. Family members said he had a terrific sense of humor.

He is survived by his wife, Marjorie of Gardnerville; brother David L. of Glendale, Ariz.; daughter Pam (Mike) Galvin of Big Pine, Calif.; stepsons Floyd, Todd and Albert Yant; and grandchildren Cory, Chelsea and Kelsea Galvin.
