A viewing is 5 p.m. today at Walton's Mortuary, 1521 Church St., in Gardnerville for Beverly Eve Batdorf, 67, who died Nov. 30, 2010, with her husband of more than 49 years at her side after a seven-year battle with breast cancer.

A funeral is noon Saturday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Gardnerville with a reception following at Carson Valley United Methodist Church.

Born March 23, 1943, in Los Angles, she attended University of California, where she met her future husband. After her sons entered elementary school, she started a career in the public schools which lasted 30 years. During that time she graduated from teaching elementary to high school, where she taught English as a second language. She completed her career at the Garden Grove School District. Upon retiring in 2000, she and her husband moved to Gardnerville. She loved bridge and was a Silver Life Master. Besides bridge, her great loves were her family, cruising, traveling, gardening and home life.

Mrs. Batdorf was preceded in death by her father David Golden. She is survived by husband Sam; mother Sara; sons Lawrence (Marie) and Kenneth (Jennifer); grandchildren Emily, Michael, Eric and Brooke; siblings Sandy (Vivian) Golden and Robin (Ray) Rojas; nephews Daniel, Jeffrey, Aaron, and niece Rachael. Final interment will be 1 p.m. Dec. 11, Rose Hills, Whittier, Calif. Walton's Funerals and Cremations Gardnerville is in charge of final arrangements.
