The R-C Morning Report

Douglas County's Web site is down this morning, but I do know that James Matlean is scheduled to be arraigned in District Court this morning before Judge Michael Gibbons. Matlean is accused of killing Wildhorse resident Ben Oxley in February 2008. Expect Matlean to deny the charge today and work will begin on a jury trial.

If your commute takes you into the mountains today, be prepared to chain up. Snow tires or chains are being required over Kingsbury Grade, Spooner Summit and about two-thirds around the Lake. Only Douglas County's east shore along Highway 50 is reasonably clear. Chains or four-wheel drive are being required over Echo Summit, Carson Pass and Interstate 80.

Expect the rain to clear out by 10 a.m. this morning, leaving mostly sunny skies with the high hitting 47 degrees. Another storm bringing rain to the Valley and snow to the mountains is expected on Wednesday.
