Dec. 12, 1930

The Record-Courier this week becomes a member of the United Press Associations and will from now on furnish its readers with authentic, timely and interesting news stories and features from the chief news centers of Nevada. The United Press news report is printed in 18 languages and in 40 countries. Its network of wires covers 140,000 miles in North America and serves thousands of newspapers in every section of the globe.

Dec. 8, 1960

Miller's Food Center, newest grocery store in Carson Valley, will have its Grand Opening this Thursday, announce co-owners James and Nevalyn Miller. Among the main features of the Food Center are 10,000 square feet of parking space, a 29-foot fresh refrigerated meat case, a refrigerated dairy case, a farm fresh produce case, and all modern equipment. The store will carry Carson Valley beef, butchered in a Federal-inspected plant in Yerington.

Dec. 5, 1985

Grace Dangberg, 85, granddaughter of Carson Valley pioneers and respected scholar, died Thanksgiving night at the Stanford Medical Center in Palo Alto. Born Feb. 26, 1896, she was the daughter of John B. and Georgie Dangberg and granddaughter of pioneer H.F. Dangberg and Margaret Gale Ferris Dangberg. Miss Dangberg devoted her life to history and education.

Douglas District Judge Michael Gibbons will hold a hearing on the school districts' request to stop trustee-elect Randy Green from taking office. Douglas voters overwhelmingly selected Green, a government teacher at Douglas High School, for the Area 4 school board seat Nov. 7. The school district has sued to stop him from taking office, citing state laws that school board members can't serve if they have a financial interest in the board's actions.
