A young and inexperienced Douglas High wrestling team got its first taste of the 2010-11 season Saturday at the Capital City duals.
Douglas didn't win any of its dual matches and did not place in the tournament but it did get some strong individual performances along the way.
Senior Dillon Spates went 5-0 on the day in the 135-pound class, although he is expected to compete in the 130 class through the rest of the season.
Zach Falanga, wrestling at 215, went 4-1.
Lowry won the tournament, with Spanish Springs taking second, North Valleys third and Carson finishing fourth.
Sophomore Zack Fiene went 3-2 in the 125-pound class while freshman 160-pounder Sullivan Cauley went 2-3, as did senior Daniel Lundergreen and 119-pounder Cody Souza.
Douglas will compete at the Reed Invitational this weekend, although they'll be without Spates, who will be taking his SATs.
