Emergency phone service was restored to northern part of the county at 6:35 p.m. Wednesday, seven hours after workers broke the fiber optic cable along Heybourne Road, cutting 911 and cell service and isolating Douglas from the rest of the world. Fortunately, there were no major incidents and just one accident in the Gardnerville Ranchos.

The Airport Advisory Committee meets 6 p.m. today at the Douglas County commission chambers in Minden to discuss the airport marketing plan.

It's warm and rainy out this morning. There are road controls over Mount Rose and Highway 88, but otherwise the board is clear. Expect scattered showers this morning after 10 a.m. Skies will be mostly cloudy with a high temperature of 52. It's already 50 in Minden, 51 in the Gardnerville Ranchos and 47 in Genoa.
