EDITOR:
I would like to say how sad I am at the slow demise of the Douglas High School wrestling program. It's been two years now since my youngest son graduated from Douglas High School and each year I looked forward to continuing to watch the wrestlers grapple on the mat and was deeply disappointed in the massive changes I saw. The loss of Lamont McCann as head coach has obviously been devastating to the program and I wish that the administation had been able to find a way to keep him on.
I am especially sad for the senior and junior class as those kids were wrestling with my son when he was a senior himself and have such potential that is being muffled by the lack of a good program. If I could be a coach myself I would but, of course I can't so I hope that someone will step up and save what is a great atheltic sport.
