Forecasters are warning anyone with interests near Western Nevada rivers and streams to clean out their ditches because there's a chance for flooding from a series of wet storms headed this way over the weekend and early next week
In a hydrologic outlook issued this morning by the National Weather Service, forecasters say heavy precipitation is likely from the Southern Cascades to the Central Sierra Friday through Wednesday.
While not sure exactly where in the mountains the heaviest amounts of moisture will hit, the Weather Service is saying heavy precipitation is almost certain and that snow levels during that precipitation will be as high as 9,000 feet, especially on Saturday and early next week. Combined with saturated soils due to well above average precipitation since October, and a significant snow pack in the Southern Cascades and the Central Sierra raises the potential for flooding through out the region.
Forecasters say anyone with interests around rivers or creeks should clean storm drains and gutters in preparation.
