EDITOR:
On behalf of the Carson Valley Chamber of Commerce & Visitors Authority, I'd like to say 'Thank you' to all of those responsible for the very successful 15th annual Parade of Lights.
Organizing large scale events like the parade is possible because of the amount of time the Chamber Ambassadors and Committee Event Chairs Jessica Jensen and Sendi Stoeckle, the business community and the community at large dedicate to planning and implementing this parade. This is truly a collective effort.
We are grateful for our long-lasting community partnerships and we look forward to making new ones. We tip our hat to the business community and indivduals that financially support the parade, with special thanks to The Record-Courier, Accolades Trophies, The Town of Minden, The Town of Gardnerville, and Douglas County Parks & Recreation.
Additional thank-yous go out to the Douglas County departments who were heavily involved in the parade planning, with special recognition to the personnel of the Douglas County Sheriff's Patrol, Citizens Patrol Unit, Search and Rescue Unit, the officers of the Nevada Highway Patrol and NDOT. They do an amazing job organizing the crowds and providing the traffic control to keep our streets safe during the parade.
From the Carson Valley Chamber of Commerce, we wish to thank everyone who created a parade entry or worked on the event to make it a success. If you missed the parade, you can visit our website www.carsonvalleynv.org and take a look at some video highlights. If your business or organization would like to participate in the 2011 parade, contact the Carson Valley Chamber of Commerce to get on the mailing list for this event taking place on December 3, 2011.
We'd also like to thank our judges; Commissioner Michael Olson, Tim Ghan, and Cheri Glockner, parade announcers Lloyd Higuera and Jessica Jensen, and to salute this year's winners; High Sierra Fellowship (Non-Profit), 4-H (Youth), Town of Minden (Government), Starbuck's (Business) and SHINE (Judges' Best).
Most importantly, I'd like to thank everyone who joined us out on the parade route. It's not worth doing if the community doesn't support it, and your turnout in the rain says the Parade of Lights is worth all of the effort.
Again, on behalf of the Staff and Board of Directors of the Chamber, thank you and we'll see you again next year.
