A small stream and urban flooding warning continues for Carson Valley as snow levels are expected to rise to near 6,000 feet.
The right-hand turn lane at Highway 88 going onto Highway 395 in Minden is flooded. While area streams and rivers are far higher than average, there's no sign that either fork of the Carson River is jumping its banks. The flood advisory is in effect until 4 p.m. today.
As on noon today, the Carson River at Genoa is at 12.27 feet, well short of the 17-foot action stage. The East Fork crested at 5.55 feet at noon today, a foot and a half short of the 7-foot action stage. No gauges on the east slope of the Sierra are showing flooding.
Fish Springs has received 1.51 inches of precipitation since Friday afternoon. Nearly an inch fell since Saturday night. The Gardnerville Ranchos received slightly more than an inch of rain over the weekend.
Markleeville reported 1.57 inches of rain over 24 inches.
Heavenly Valley reported 15 inches of snow during the 24-hour period ending this morning. Kirkwood Ski Area is reporting 35 inches of snow during the previous 24 hours, with 52 inches falling from this storm so far.
Four foot snow drifts trapped a bus on Highway 88 at Red Lakes Grade forcing the California Highway Patrol to close the road until it could be plowed.
Highway 395 is closed at Bodie. Heavy snow on Conway Summit is stranding motorists in Mono County.
