One registered Percheron stallion, color black. Age two and one-half years. Weight, 1540 lbs. Seven registered Berkshire boars ranging from two to eight months old. One registered Berkshire boar, age one year. Weight, 398 lbs. Apply to Nevada State Prison.

Dec. 26, 1930

A goose that was to have graced the Christmas table of Rev. P.H. Felten will be eaten by one of his neighbors. The Christmas bird had flopped its way out of Rev. Felten's coop and hit for the river and was having the time of its life when espied by a neighbor. Ah, a wild goose for Christmas and the neighbor hurriedly grabbed his shotgun and let Mr. Goose have both barrels. After the bird had been picked and hung out to freeze, the neighbor learned of his mistake.

Dec. 22, 1960

Will Carson Valley have the largest fish hatchery in the state? The chief of fisheries for the Nevada Fish and Game Commission disclosed that plans have been made to build what would be Nevada's sixth and largest fish hatchery near here in conjunction with the multi-purpose $53 million Washoe Project. Tentative location for the hatchery is an area south of Minden.

Where would you say our native black bear is at this moment? "They're not denned up," said Carl Lackey of the Nevada Division of Wildlife. "It's been warm and there's a food supply. Why would they den up when they have all this free food from people's garbage?"
