A handful of workers were evacuated from the Carson Valley Museum & Cultural Center after reporting the smell of gas.
Employees of the Carson Valley Chamber of Commerce said the smell of gas was strong downstairs at about 12:10 p.m.
East Fork firefighters responded to the building to look for the source of the odor.
High School Street south of Highway 395 was closed for fire apparatus.
No one was injured and there has been no explosion.
