Accused serial car burglar Andrue Madden is due in East Fork Justice Court today for a hearing. Defense attorney Derrick Lopez has been wading through the 400-page case file. In the meantime, Madden has been in jail since he was returned to Douglas County in September. Madden is accused in being involved with hundreds of car burglaries ranging from Genoa and Johnson Lane, through Carson City and into Reno.

For the first time in almost a week, there are no road controls in Douglas County. Heck, you don't even need chains or snow tires to get over Highway 50 at Echo Summit. Highway 88 is requiring chains or four-wheel drive from just beyond Hope Valley and up over Carson Pass.

The brunt of today's winter storm is passing well south of us, prompting a winter weather advisory until 4 p.m. for Mono County. We've got scattered snow showers before 10 a.m. today then scattered rain showers. There's a slight chance of precipitation after 4 p.m. Expect cloudy skies with the snow level rising to 5,200 feet.
