The Carson Valley Arts Council announced the winners of its sixth annual Gingerbread House Decorating Contest. The panel of judges proclaimed the competition was extremely difficult to judge given the vast array of creativity involved in this year's entries. But once the aroma of gingerbread cleared from their heads, winners in the four categories were finally declared.
Adult division winners: Tina DeLorey, first place; Jacob Galliett, second; Sheila Dill place. Kid's division: Kristina Benbrooks, first place; Braydon Abbott, second; Shannon and Donna O'Connor, third.
Best Community Group: Pinon Kids Club, first; GES Kids Club, second; Cub Scout Pack 8583, third. Family Division: the girls of the Boggs family, first; Wetzel/Davidson family, second; Peters-Jacobsen family, third.
For the first time the People's Choice Award did not match any of the first-place categories as selected by the judges. Though the votes were close, the community selected the Peters-Jacobsen family's depiction of the Carson Valley Museum as the Best of Show.
The Carson Valley Arts Council with the cooperative support of the Douglas County Parks & Recreation Department and the Carson Valley Museum & Cultural Center sponsor the annual Gingerbread House Decorating Contest.
