A state historical marker celebrating Nevada's first flight was found in a Nevada Department of Transportation yard on Highway 50.
The marker, which stood along Highway 395 near Glen Eagles, disappeared about nine years ago when work was being conducted on Silver Oak Golf Course.
A tip led Nevada Appeal reporter Brian Duggan to the yard, where he found two others, the marker for the Washoe Tribe, which stood along Highway 395 near the tribe's administrative building, and for Cave Rock, which stood along Highway 50 at Lake Tahoe.
Duggan reported in this morning's Appeal that State Historic Preservation Office Architectural Historian Mara Jones said a crew will pick up the markers on Thursday.
She said the state will be able to use the text plates, saving several hundred dollars or more in replacement costs.
