The R-C Morning Report

We could be looking at slick conditions for the morning commute in places as the leading edge of a winter storm makes its way into the region. There's the possibility of light snow in parts of the valleys which may result in some slick roads before it warms up.

Road controls are limited to the upper elevations right now, with chains or snow tires required around the lake from Spooner junction around to near Tahoe City. They haven't reached Kingsbury or Spooner Summit yet, but the morning's still young. At 6:30 a.m. there hasn't been many accidents reported by the Nevada Highway Patrol.

The brunt of this storm arrives tonight and Wednesday bringing very cold air with it. There's not that much moisture associated with this storm, maybe a third of an inch of rain and a dusting of snow. But temperatures will drop from above freezing at 9 a.m. to 21 degrees by 6 p.m. The wind will be blowing the whole time.
