EDITOR:
Your re-print of Frank Church's letter in The New York Sun regarding whether Santa Claus is real, should be a keepsake for everyone.
Not only back then were their writing skills much better than what is written now, but he had a way of eloquently putting to an 8-year-old what it means to believe in something.
Unfortunately, if articles were to be written with such language today, most readers would be saying to themselves, "what are they talking about?"
We can only hope that texting will get better and not worse. Too many shortcuts in language makes us lazy.
