A memorial service is 11 a.m. Thursday at the The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on Spruce and Deseret in Minden for Dr. Clyde M. ( Buz) Brunson, 83, who died Jan. 30, 2010, in Carson City.
Born Feb. 21, 1926, in Ogden, Utah, to Dr. Clyde F. and Rachel Brunson, he joined the U.S. Marine Corps at 18, and spent his 19th birthday on Iwo Jima. He was awarded the Purple Heart.
After the war, Dr. Brunson attended the University of Utah and married sweetheart Marjorie Barrus on June 21, 1946 in the Salt lake Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He attended Physicians and Surgeons School of Dentistry in San Francisco, California. He graduated in 1952.
The couple are parents of four children, Connie (Steve) Wait of Alliance, Ohio, David (Bobbie) Brunson of San Diego, Calif., Richard (Janet) Brunson of Thousand Oaks, Calif., and Julie (Bob) Hines of Gardnerville. They have 16 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
Dr. Brunson practiced dentistry in San Bernardino, Calif., for 32 years.
The couple moved to Gardnerville in 2005.
He was was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was a member of the Footprinters, and served as a volunteer in the Douglas County Citzens' Patrol of Gardnerville.
Visitation will be at 10 a.m. Burial will immediately follow the funeral service at Garden Cemetery. Donations may be made in Dr. Brunson's name to The Humane Society of the United States.
