EDITOR:
Steve Brown and Harvie Keith have been throwing the same bucket of "motocross goop" against countless locales and counties and their commissioners, etc. in hopes that it would eventually stick somewhere. Well, the geniuses who currently fill those cushy commissioners' chairs for Douglas County were somehow intrigued and consented to a one year, temporary permit.
Brown and Keith were told, in plain English (and repeated several times with emphasis by the five commissioners) that they were to submit a more suitable location for the consideration of the communities and the commissioners though it is now more than obvious that the commissioners surely do not represent the vast majority of taxpaying homeowners and other residents of the Pinenut Road area and adjoining neighborhoods.
Well, that was in 2009. This is 2010, and who's kidding whom?
While I did attend the park and planning fiasco and the commission meeting last year, I couldn't understand why the communities impacted by this motocross track did not show and demand that the commissioners truly represent them and their interests. That obviously didn't happen then.
I can only say, in closing, that the commissioners meet again on Thursday and, if the Pinenut communities do not want this motocross again and again, they had better show up and they had better make themselves heard. If they do not react, then they will get exactly what the commissioners and Steve Brown and Harvie Keith are serving them.
