A storm with the potential to drop 1-3 inches of snow in the Western Nevada valleys is heading south from the Gulf of Alaska and should arrive sometime Tuesday, according to a National Weather Service advisory issued early this morning. Forecasters say so far it looks like heavier snow will be confined to the Sierra and foothills west of Highway 395, but that the storm's path is still uncertain enough that it might slide east and inland. Also the storm will consist of showers, so the snow amounts will differ from one place to another.
