The Nevada Department of Motor Vehicles will be unable to issue or renew driver's licenses or identification cards in those offices open Saturday because of a scheduled outage of the Social Security Administration's validation system.

The DMV offices open on Saturdays are the Reno office on Galletti Way, the Henderson office on American Pacific Drive, the Las Vegas offices on Flamingo Road and Sahara Ave. and the North Las Vegas office on Decatur Boulevard.

Under normal circumstances, the department electronically validates the Social Security numbers of motorists applying for driver's licenses or identification cards at the counter or who are renewing licenses or cards.

Those whose renewal notices say they're eligible will still be able to renew on the Department's website at www.dmvnv.com. Those with a drive test should keep the appointment and take the test. All department offices will be closed for President's Day, and will resume full operations on Tuesday.
