The Carson Valley Chapter of Women Entrepreneurs of The World is holding its monthly group meeting on Feb. 25 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Carson Valley Inn in Minden.
This month's speaker is Anje deKnijf, executive director of the Sierra Nevada Community Land Trust. She is speaking on affordable housing and the Community Land Trust partnership.
Comprised of members from the community, the Sierra Nevada Community Land Trust is a faith-based, private nonprofit organization whose central mission is to make affordable housing in Douglas County a reality.
"There is still a need for affordable housing in Carson Valley," said deKnijf. "As home prices have fallen due to the recession, incomes have also fallen."
As a 25-year resident of Carson Valley, deKnijf accepted the position of executive director in October. Prior to that, she was a real estate agent with Coldwell Banker Itildo, and originated her real estate career as a broker in Hawaii in 1980.
The monthly WE meetings are open for all to attend. Cost is $15 for WE members, $20 for guests. Make reservations by Feb. 22. To pay by credit card, please RSVP online at www.weoftheworld.com/carson-valley. Those who wish to pay at the door (cash or check only), should make reservations via e-mail to carsonvalley@weoftheworld.com, and are asked to put RSVP in the subject line, and their name in the body of the e-mail.
