The Coleville Girls used a weekend split to secure the No. 2 seed from the West in the Northern Regionals to begin on Thursday in Elko.
Virginia City beat the Lady Wolves 53-30 on Friday night to put a damper on Coleville's senior night. Coleville's lone senior Molly Garcia scored six points and had a team high in both assists and steals with 3 each in her final home game. Alexus Robertson and Lela Gnuse-Stokes each scored seven points to lead the Lady Wolves. Elizabeth Pierce led Coleville in rebounds with seven.
"I thought we did a much better job this time in defending their half-court offense but our 44 turnovers killed us," Coleville coach Will Sandy said. "They take advantage of every mistake."
Saturday Coleville traveled to Hawthorne and used a strong second half to defeat Mineral County by a final score of 37-19.
"We made a defensive adjustment midway through the third quarter that really caused Mineral County to struggle," Sandy said. " We executed well offensively and made freethrows down the stretch."
Molly Garcia and Lela Gnuse-Stokes each scored eight points to lead the Lady Wolves.
Martha Robles scored seven points and had a team leading six steals. Elizabeth Pierce grabbed 11 rebounds to lead Coleville and added six points and three assists in a solid all around performance.
The Coleville girls end the regular season 11-3 in league and 15-6 overall.
