A North Carolina woman remained in custody Wednesday on charges she tried to smuggle drugs into Nevada State Prison last week.

Shawna Marie Jones, 38, of Jacksonville, N.C., is being held on suspicion of three felony counts of possession of a controlled substance, and one count each of trafficking, conspiracy to violate the uniform controlled substance act, possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell and misdemeanor possession of marijuana.

According to the arrest report, Jones was brought Friday to the Carson City Jail after she allegedly tried to smuggled the drugs in to visit inmate Steven Mouton, convicted of murder with a deadly weapon in 1991 in Clark County.

Jones allegedly told police she flew into Reno the previous evening and was hired for $2,000 by another woman "for the sole purpose of delivering drugs to (Mouton)."

During a strip-search at the jail, 14 grams of marijuana, 3.7 grams of methamphetamine, 6.3 grams of cocaine, and four Oxycontin pills were recovered from a condom secreted by Jones.

She is being held on $1,132.
