Nevada enters week two of the 2010 season receiving votes in the ESPN.com/USA Softball Collegiate Top 25 and the USA Today/NFCA Top 25 ... Nevada is coming off a 2-3 start to the season as the Wolf Pack competed last week at the annual Kajikawa Invitational hosted by Arizona State in Tempe, Ariz. ... The highlight of the first weekend was the Pack's win over then-No. 15 Northwestern ... Nevada fell to the current Nos. 1 and 2 teams in the country, Washington and Arizona, respectively and also lost to a currently ranked Texas A&M team ... Nevada's other win in Tempe came against Oregon State ... The Wolf Pack is picked to finish second in this year's Western Athletic Conference race ... Nevada had three players on the Preseason All-WAC first team in Katie Holverson, Sam Bias and Noelle Micka ... Holverson, last year's WAC Pitcher of the Year, is on the initial watch list for the USA Softball National Collegiate Player of the Year Award ... The Wolf Pack returns five position-player starters and both pitchers from last year ... This is the second season under head coach Matt Meuchel ... Last year, the Wolf Pack went 40-19 in 2009 and won the WAC Championship with a 15-5 mark ... Nevada concluded the 2009 season at the NCAA Regional in Palo Alto, Calif.
ABOUT THIS WEEK
Week two of the Nevada softball season takes the Wolf Pack to Palo Alto, Calif., where the team will play Sacramento State, No. 11/13 Stanford, RV/NR Illinois and UC Riverside ... Nevada is 28-38 all-time against Sacramento State but the Pack has won the last eight in a row ... The Wolf Pack is 6-2 all-time against Stanford but lost the last meeting last year at the NCAA Regional ... This is the first-ever meeting between Nevada and Illinois ... The Wolf Pack is 5-1 all-time against UC Riverside, including a 2-0 mark since the Pack brought its program back in 2003.

Beginning this weekend and continuing through the season, every regular season game will feature an audio broadcast live on www.nevadawolfpack.com. Last year, Wolf Pack radio debuted on the radio in Northern Nevada and a select number of games will again be broadcast this year. Nevada's games from the Stanford Nike Invitational (Feb. 20-21) and The Preview (March 5-7) as well as the Pack's series at New Mexico State will be broadcast live on Fox Sports Radio 1450 AM (KHIT). Nevada's game in the WAC Tournament and any postseason games will also be carried.
