The Carson City Historical Society and Carson City Parks Foundation celebrate stagecoach driver Hank Monk's 184th birthday, 1 p.m. March 7, at the Foreman-Roberts House Museum, 1207 N. Carson St., Carson City.
A book signing of "Early Carson City," by authors Susan J. Ballew and L. Trent Dolan is 1-3 p.m. Hank Monk is featured in the book along with Doc Benton's stables. Also pictured in the book is the historic Foreman-Roberts House and the family that lived there. Books will be available for sale.
Hank Monk, portrayed by Fred Stanio, will be there to greet visitors and talk about his famous stagecoach rides and his many visits to the Ormsby House. Also on sale are the actual newspapers from the Carson Morning Appeal printed in the 1880s and recently acquired by the Carson City Historical Society.
