South Tahoe's Barton Family Birthing Center remodeled

At Barton's newly remodeled Family Birthing Center, we make childbirth the healthy, special, loving experience it should be for you and your family. You'll receive compassionate care from exceptional doctors and nurses in our state-of-the-art facility, complete with private, spacious birthing suites.

"Our new mothers are impressed with the personal care they receive," said Peggy Wright, director of the Family Birthing Center. "Personal care is what has made our reputation one of the best in our region for family-centered maternity care.

"Our patients labor, give birth and spend their postpartum time in one of our large, attractively remodeled private rooms. Each room is equipped with the comforts of home along with the newest birthing equipment," she said.

Personal birth plans are welcome and flat screen TVs, DVD players and wireless Internet access are all available for patient comfort.

"Having a baby is a personal experience and we feel you should be able to share it with your family," Wright said.

Family members and friends are welcome to be present at the birth of your baby, and a support person is welcome to spend the night on new sleeper sofas.

The medical team at Barton Memorial Hospital consists of registered nurses, board certified obstetricians, family practice physicians and pediatricians.

Barton serves patients from South Lake Tahoe and Carson Valley and offers the familiarity of a comfortable, inviting environment, the security of the latest medical technology and a well-equipped nursery.

New families receive home visits after the birth by a registered nurse, free through the Best Beginnings Program.

Barton's Family Birthing Center also offers four lactation consultants on staff who are International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners.

Ask about sharing your newborn's pictures with friends and family through the online Web nursery.
