Lawmakers continued to caucus Sunday morning after Senate and Assembly leadership reached a tentative deal with Gov. Jim Gibbons Saturday night following hours of meetings.

Among some of the major compromises in the deal would be a 6.9 percent cut to education, down from the governor's recommended 10 percent and up from Assembly Democrat's 5 percent.

The Nevada State Prison also wouldn't close under the brokered deal, which still hadn't been drafted by early afternoon Sunday.

The governor has also asked lawmakers to end the 26th special session by midnight tonight, but the Legislature contends they can end the session when they want.
