Ballroom in Genoa
Registration is Sunday and Jan. 17 for ballroom dance classes for adults and teens in the Genoa Town Hall. The 22-week course begins 6:30-8:30 p.m. Sunday. Learn waltz, night, club, Texas two-step, tango, cha-cha, salsa, fox trot and East Coast swing. Cost is $8 per adult per class, and $6 for teens. Information, Larry Ward, (775) 461-0474.
Musical theater class
Theatre of Arts Discipline (TOAD) and Pau-Wa-Lu Players offer musical theater dance classes in beginning and intermediate levels, noon to 1:30 p.m. Saturday and 12:30-2 p.m. Sunday. Guest instructor is choreographer, actress, singer and dancer Erin McDowell, who has performed in musical theater for 15 years. Cost is $25 per class with a 10 percent discount if attending both classes.

Rejuvenation through sound
Listen to a 45-minute Tibetan bowl performance by sound practitioner Journey Harasin, 4 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 12, at the Yoga Loft, 1528 Highway 395, Suite 200, Gardnerville.
Harasin has offered rejuvenating sound workshops in California and Nevada since 2004. Cost is $10. Call ahead to reserve a space.

'Sound of Music' auditions
The Western Nevada Musical Theatre Co. hosts auditions for "The Sound of Music," 6 p.m. Jan. 13, in Sarah Winnemucca Hall at Western Nevada College Carson City campus.
There are 17 roles to be cast, including children and ensemble. Auditioners should come prepared to sing a one-minute song with accompaniment. Rehearsals begin in February. Performances are two weekends at the Carson City Community Center on May 7-16.
Everyone accepted must register in the WNC musical theater course to participate in the productions. Credit students receive scholarships to defray half their tuition. Children register non-credit.
Course applies to the associate of arts degree in musical theater.

Drawing, watercolor classes
Artist Reiko Hervin offers drawing and watercolor classes from February to April at the University of Nevada Cooperative Extension office, 1329 Waterloo Lane, Gardnerville. Each class includes 30 minutes of still-life drawing and two hours of watercolor painting and critique.
Beginning class A: Step-by-step for the absolute beginner, six classes, 9:30 a.m. to noon, Thursdays starting Feb. 11.
Intermediate class B: For less than three years' painting experience, six classes, 1-3:30 p.m., Thursdays starting Feb. 11.
Advanced class C: For advanced amateurs with more than five years' painting experience, 1-3:30 p.m. Thursdays starting Feb. 4.
Sign up by Jan. 30. Fees are $132 for six classes.
