Dog adoption Saturday

Douglas Animal Welfare Group will sponsor a dog adoption event at the Petco, located at Topsy Lane and Highway 395, 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Saturday. Young Chautauqua meeting

An informational meeting for the Douglas County Historical Society's Young Chautauqua program is 6-7 p.m. Tuesday at the Carson Valley Museum & Cultural Center, 1477 Highway 395, Gardnerville. Pageant preview

Miss Nevada Scholarship Organization hosts the Miss America wardrobe preview for 2009 Miss Nevada Christina Keegan, 2-4 p.m. Jan. 17, at St. Gall Catholic Church, 1343 Centerville Lane, Gardnerville. Keegan models her wardrobe and performs her talent that will be presented in the Miss America Pageant in Las Vegas on Jan. 30.


Senior health fair

The 11th annual Senior Health Fair, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Jan. 27, at the Carson Valley Inn's Shannon Ballroom. The free event is an opportunity to find out about local services and health care providers.
