The Coleville girls' basketball team opened league play with home victories over Sierra Lutheran and Pyramid Lake last week.
Coleville defeated Sierra Lutheran on Tuesday 38-23. Sophomore forward Elizabeth Pierce led all scorers with 14 points on a 6-for-7 from the field shooting performance.
Junior Forward Linzy Garcia scored 12 points with senior sister Molly Garcia adding nine points in the victory. Lela Gnuse-Stokes led the Lady Wolves with 10 rebounds and had a team high 8 assists.
For Sierra Lutheran, Tiffany Patrick had 10 points and Haley Stokes and Shelby Farney each had two points.
Sophomore Lela Gnuse-Stokes scored 16 points and grabbed 18 rebounds to lead Coleville in Saturday's 46-23 victory over Pyramid Lake. Martha Robles had her highest scoring game of the year with 11 points and led the Lady Wolves with 7 assists. Linzy Garcia added 8 points, 16 rebounds, and 8 steals in a solid all-around performance. Junior Alexus Robertson added a spark off the bench scoring 4 points and playing well on defense.
"I thought we played pretty well especially considering the long Christmas break," Coleville coach Will Sandy said. "I am very happy with our team defense and rebounding. The girls are playing as a team on offense with great passing and patience.
The Lady Wolves end the weekend 2-0 in league and 6-3 overall. The Coleville girls travel to Smith Valley Friday night and will host Gerlach on Saturday afternoon.
Jason Peters scored 22 points and Emmi Sandoval added 10 in a 64-33 win over Sierra Lutheran last week.
Peters again had 22, Sandoval had 13, Jay Clark had 10 and Mat Randall had eight in a 54-45 win over Pyramid Lake.
Sierra Lutheran lost to Coleville and beat Sage Ridge 48-14 last week.
Sierra Lutheran lost to Coleville and beat Excel Christian 31-19.
Haley Stokes and Stephenie Nieri led the team with eight points each and Mariah West and Tiffany Patrick each scored seven.
