While Carson Valley continues to be socked in the Sierra above 5,400 feet are sunny and reasonably clear.

The fog should clear when the wind picks up at about 10 p.m., according to the National Weather Service. That's when the wind starts to gust at 24 mph or better in front of an approaching winter storm due in on Tuesday.

A strong inversion and high moisture combined this morning to reduce visiability to less than a quarter mile in the Valleys. The National Weather Service is advising motorists to slow down to travel during the morning.

The fog disperses at about 5,300 feet elevation on Kingsbury Grade.
