A California woman being held on trafficking and bribery charges is expected to appear in Douglas County District Court for a change of plea and arraignment.
Kimberly Lopes, 28, was arrested April 9, 2008, in connection with the sale of 29 grams of methamphetamine. She was to go to trial in September, but her attorney had a conflict, and a new one was appointed.
About the same time charges surfaced that Lopes and Aaron John Winton of Cameron Park, Calif., attempted to bribe two witnesses in the case. Lopes was being held on four charges in the case, including sales, attempted trafficking and trafficking in a controlled substance, and being a habitual felon. Both Lopes and Winton are suspected meth dealers sought by law enforcement agencies in California. Lopes is being held without bail at the request of the California Department of Corrections.
