Senior menu for the week

Monday. Closed for Martin Luther King Jr. Day

Tuesday. Chicken fried steak, beet salad, mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans, cookies

Wednesday. Turkey, stuffing and gravy, salad, apple cider, corn, cranberry sauce, pumpkin pie

Thursday. Swedish meatballs and noodles, roll, three-bean salad, carrots, pineapple juice, banana pudding

Friday. Tomato soup, lemon baked fish, corn pudding peas and carrots, ginger cookies, wheat bread, applesauce


Pro-Life Rally in Minden

The second annual Carson Douglas Interfaith Pro-Life Rally is 9-10:30 a.m. Saturday at LifePoint Church, 1095 Stephanie Way, Minden. Rally features psychologist Jay Jeffers and Dr. Keith Shonnard of the Catholic Medical Association.

The rally features psychologist Jay Jeffers, who speaks about the impact of abortion. Catholic Medical Association's Dr. Keith Shonnard of Carson City gives a presentation of life in the womb and information about abortion. The rally includes personal stories, news of ministries of compassion helping women in crisis and a review of the progress of the pro-life movement. The youth will present a short skit.

Pageant preview

Miss Nevada Scholarship Organization hosts the Miss America wardrobe preview for 2009 Miss Nevada Christina Keegan, 2-4 p.m. Sunday, at St. Gall Catholic Church, 1343 Centerville Lane, Gardnerville. Keegan models her wardrobe and performs her talent that will be presented in the Miss America Pageant in Las Vegas on Jan. 30.


Trails meeting Monday

Connecting Communities to Nature Through a System of Trails is the theme of the Carson Valley Trails Association's annual meeting, 5:30-7:30 p.m. Monday, at the Genoa Town Hall. Learn about CVTA projects and events. Information, www.carsonvalleytrails.org or 265-3736.


Crafting supplies for sale

Craft supply sale, 9 a.m. to noon Wednesday, at the Douglas County Senior Center, 2300 Meadow Lane, Gardnerville. Fabric, lace, beads, needlepoint, yarn, quilting and tole painting supplies. Information, Esther, 265-2312 or 783-6455.


Recycle greeting cards

New and used greeting cards for any occasion are collected at the Douglas County Senior Center to donate to St. Jude's Ranch for Children, where they are used to create post cards and other projects. Prepare cards for donation by removing the back where personal messages have been written. Bring cards to the senior center, 2300 Meadow Lane in Gardnerville. Information, Joan, 782-0346.
