The school board president who preceded Cindy Trigg was called back to the helm Tuesday night.
Douglas County school board members voted unanimously, with trustee Karen Chessell absent, to select Gardnerville resident Teri Jamin for another year in the leadership role.
Jamin, 56, served as president in 2008.
Board members also voted to keep Tom Moore in the vice president position and Keith Roman as clerk.
"Tom Moore indicated pressing, work-related obligations this time of year that would prevent him from fulfilling the role of president, so he nominated me based on my past experience in 2008," Jamin said Wednesday morning.
In August 2009, Jamin retired after 25 years working for the City of South Lake Tahoe, most recently as community development director.
"It gives me more time to devote to the presidency," she said. "We have some important matters before us this year."
Those matters include the upcoming strategic plan, the facilities master plan, selection of a permanent superintendent and state budget cuts.
"We're all ready to work together as a team," Jamin said. "I'm honored they selected me, and that they regard me in that way. I hope I can live up to their expectations."
Jamin said working at the Lake yet living and raising her children in the Valley has provided her with experience on both sides of the district's geographical divide.
"I feel I worked at the Lake so many years, even though I did not live there, that I know what their needs are," she said. "But I also had children in the schools in the Valley, so I have a broad perspective regarding and relating to my constituents."
School board members are meeting for a workshop 3-7 p.m. Jan. 28 at Genoa Lakes, the day before their annual strategic planning session.
"We'll discuss board protocol, and emphasize criteria for the selection of the new superintendent," Jamin said. "I'm looking forward to starting the conversation on the right foot."
