Stephanie Harper, a 2009 Douglas High School graduate and four-year varsity softball pitcher, has been selected to participate on the USA International Softball Team, representing the United States at the 2010 Buenos Aires Goodwill Series in Buenos Aires, Argentina in June.
Harper is currently attending Concord University in Athens, West Virginia and begins the softball season on Feb. 18, 2010 under the direction of Head Coach Sabrina McCullough.
The Argentinean Amateur Softball Association and Argentinean Tourism Authority have selected USA Athletes International, established in 1992, as the sponsoring organization to represent the United States at the 2010 Buenos Aires Goodwill series and is a non-profit organization dedicated to giving amateur athletes the opportunity to foster international goodwill and friendship among nations, while promoting the game.
Harper was the Sierra League Player of the Year in 2009 and through three no-hitters in her career at Douglas. She is the school's all-time leader in career wins (73) and had 460 career strikeouts.
