Western Nevada College is preparing for its comprehensive decennial evaluation in May by members of the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities, with the goal of reaffirming its accreditation. A team of evaluators will visit the college's campuses May 3-5 to assess how well the college has fulfilled its mission in areas that include academic programs, student services, facilities, processes, and progress toward goals.

Evaluators will review a college self-study document that is being prepared by WNC faculty and staff, and then personally meet with students, faculty, staff and community stakeholders.

WNC's accreditation was reaffirmed in 2005, following the regular interim evaluation visit by the Northwest Commission. The college also submitted a progress report in 2007.

Members of the public are welcome to comment about the college's qualification for candidacy or accreditation. Comments must be submitted in writing with an original signature and directed to the president of the Northwest Commission. They will be forwarded as received to WNC, the evaluation committee, and the commission. They must be received by Wednesday, March 31. Address: Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities, 8060 165th Ave. NE, Suite 100, Redmond, WA 98052, Attn: Dr. Sandra E. Elman, President.
