A 17-year-old Sierra Lutheran High School student was helicoptered to Reno for medical treatment on Friday after he struck his head when he fell off the running board of a Ford Explorer driven by another teenager.

According to the Sheriff's Office, witnesses said the driver of the Explorer didn't know the male teenager was standing on the running board.

Apparently there were several teens near the vehicle when it started moving.

The injured teenager was conscious and alert when East Fork paramedics arrived at the scene, but he complained of chest pain.

He was transported to Carson Valley Medical Center where he was picked up by Care Flight Ambulance helicopter.
