A winter weather advisory has been advanced three hours to 1 p.m., according to the National Weather Service.

It started to snow about 11:30 a.m. in the Valley with snow sticking to the roads by about 12:30 p.m.

According to the Weather Service, the advisory for Carson Valley will continue until 4 a.m. Tuesday with the potential accumulations of nearly 2 inches.

At some point the snow may switch back to rain this afternoon, but it will be back to snow by 6 p.m. The heaviest snow will fall 4-8 p.m.

Winds should be blowing 10-15 mph with locally higher gusts of up to 35 mph later today.
