Looking for leadership

EDITOR:

Memorandum to who has any interest in the present status of our country and Nevada.

Subject: One citizen's dissatisfaction of the unacceptable conduct of government operations, private practice, Wall Street, leaders, politicians, public servants, citizens, political parties and the apathy for present day failures in United States, disrespect and our arrogance to the world needs, security and public safety of our country.

It is unnecessary for me to outline the many obvious disgusting events now being practiced, the lack of responsibility, integrity, social manners, the apathy and acts of the public during last few years. Anyone who has eyes, ears and the ability to think for themselves is fully aware of our many deficiencies.

Firstly, the charities to which I have given over my many 91 years on this planet accept my donations but now write more administrative communications to me with the net result of costs in excess of my contributions. None of my donations are going to the people who need help. I shall cease, other than my active participation in charities, through my Carson City Kiwanis membership until matters change. I know that charity is being done correctly and helping the community by Kiwanis International.

Secondly, the recent legislation of the federal government is a "farce," accomplishing nothing but needless debt, vote-getting "pork," waste, and increased salaries and "freebies" for those controlling our lives without adherence to their sworn statements to serve our country. They are not solving our problems or real needs.

Thirdly, the county of Douglas has recently raised water fees for water on our properties. The recent increase in water fees exceeds the total property taxes on our expensive home. We are required to pay for water which we do not use. My use is equal to the average use of a residence in the United States but we are being charged for many times that average use. I pay my monthly charge under protest only.

Fourthly, the county of Douglas, the state of Nevada, and the developer of Job's Peak Ranch planned development have failed to follow the recorded agreements and requirements for the improvements amounting to thousands of dollars to our lot owners. A court case with 27 counts of injustice, acceptance of uncompleted improvements, mistakes, and substandard construction has been filed by the homeowners association for damages, failure to follow the recorded contracts and compliance with the laws. The county illegally accepted the improvements with the knowledge they were unsatisfactory but refuses to finish same as owners.

These are only a few of the trespasses by our present governments and ourselves. Immorality is another failure. You should ponder on these matters for it is time for statesmanlike leadership.

Let the results of past history in the rise and fall of other countries and empires be our guidance for the need of positive action by both you and me.
