Friends of Habitat Today publisher and Gardnerville Ranchos resident Danny Haesaerts are helping out after he fell and shattered four vertebrae in his neck recently.

He is at Carson Tahoe Regional Medical Center where he was paralyzed from the neck down, according to a note we received from Re/Max Realtor Scott Smith.

After surgery, Danny recovered some of the feeling in his limbs, but he faces extensive physical therapy.

Danny's wife, Bonnie is running the publication while he is in the hospital.

An account has been set up at Carson River Community Bank. Make checks payable to Re-Habby Danny and drop them off at Scott's office, 1320 Highway 395, Gardnerville.

Bonnie is sister to former R-C staffer Debbie Borowick, who worked for the newspaper back in the early 1990s. Jennifer and I sold Bonnie a Mac way back before Habitat Today was founded. Bonnie and Danny celebrated their 10th wedding anniversary in July.

Chamber of Commerce President Cheri Glockner was injured while skiing and is recovering. In the meantime, Steve Weissinger is filling in for her at the meetings.

Happy 80th birthday to Genoa resident John DeRuntz, who was feted at his son's restaurant on Jan. 10. John is father to Genoa volunteer firefighter Geoff and former Genoa resident Amelia, who was in town from Portland for the weekend.

On Saturday, former Jacks Valley residents Jean, Randy and Maggie Marshall were in town visiting Rod and Phipps Blanchard.
