SAN JOSE, Calif. -- Defenseman Dan Boyle could miss the next two games for the San Jose Sharks because of an undisclosed upper-body injury.

Boyle was injured in the third period of Tuesday night's win in Los Angeles. He will sit out Thursday night's game against Anaheim and says he will probably miss Saturday's game against Buffalo as well. The Sharks have four days off after that and hope Boyle will be able to play Jan. 28 against Chicago.

Boyle is a member of the Canadian Olympic team. He leads all Sharks defenders with 43 points.

San Jose called up defenseman Jason Demers from AHL Worcester to take his place on the ice against the Ducks. Forward Benn Ferriero was sent back to Worcester.
