Stand-up comedy class

Kat Simmons hosts a stand-up comedy workshop, 6:30-8:30 p.m. Tuesdays, Feb. 9 through March 23, at the Carson Valley Arts Council in Minden. During the six-week workshop, students write a seven-minute set to present at a public showcase on the last night. Cost of the workshop is $250 with a $50 deposit due by Feb. 3. Wine making class

Gardnerville wine maker Archie Reed teaches how to make wine beginning 7:30 p.m. Feb. 15 at Curves, 1540 Highway 395, Suite 1, Gardnerville. At least six participants are needed to sign up. The five-week long course costs $300 and includes everything needed to make wine except the bottles. Classes are Feb. 16, 23, March 2, 9, 16. The wine ingredient kit offers 15 choices of white and red wines. Expect to make 30 bottles of the wine of your choice and have the equipment and knowledge to make wine at home for $2 per bottle. 'Odd Couple' opens Feb. 19

The Dakota Organization's production of Neil Simon's "The Odd Couple" runs Feb. 19-28 at the CVIC Hall in downtown Minden. Performances are 7:30 p.m. Feb. 19, 20, 26, 27, and 2 p.m. Feb. 21 and 28. Musical auditions Feb. 24

Auditions for the Carson Valley Community Theater's musical revue, "Broadway Through the Decades," are 6-9 p.m. Feb. 24 and 9 a.m. to noon Feb. 27 at the Carson Valley Inn in Minden.

Auditions open to singers and dancers of all ages for the show of songs from Broadway shows from 1900s to present, presented May 14-23 at the CVIC Hall in Minden.

Bring two Broadway songs - one ballad and one upbeat song - with sheet music, tape or CD for accompaniment. A special role for a female of 60-plus years will also be auditioned.

Music at Antoci's

Guitarist Duane "Beans" Sousa performs at Antoci's at Genoa Lakes Golf Course on Jan. 30. Sousa is best known for his recording productions and album appearances. He produced and co-wrote songs for Lacy J Dalton's "Wild Horse Crossing" and created his own CD, "Into The Blue."


Genoa Bar happenings
