Good luck Miss Nevada

Miss Nevada Christina Keegan is only the second Gardnerville resident to compete in the Miss America pageant on Saturday.

No Miss Nevada has ever won the pageant, but Christina is on her home turf when the final competitions are held in Las Vegas.

Casinos won't offer bets on the chances of any given contestant making it to the final show, but Christina has already beaten the odds.

Keegan graduated in 2008 from Rosemont Women's College in Pennsylvania where she received a bachelor of science degree in biology.

She won a president's scholarship to attend Rosemont, where she was on the dean's list for every year she was there.

She completed her first year of medical school at the University of Utah, but took a year off from medical school to compete in the Miss America pageant

We wish Christina the best of luck in the pageant tomorrow. We are confident that she will be a source of pride for our town.

That's because we know she's a winner, no matter what happens.
