EDITOR:
I don't often agree with Stuart Posselt, but in his letter ("Heads Should Roll" June 25) about holding people accountable for past bad decisions made regarding the failing water systems, he makes a good point. He writes that most of those responsible have left by now, but at least one is seeking higher office. The person he refers to is former county commissioner Kelly Kite who is running against JoEtta Brown for state Assembly.
We've had too many pressing issues kicked down the road for too long and now we find ourselves in a mess. We need someone with the guts, tenacity, real world experience and, above all, good judgment to finally address these problems. That's why I am supporting JoEtta Brown for Assembly.
She's as frustrated as the rest of us by the unwillingness of some leaders to lead, the partisan bickering, and the fiscal irresponsibility. I've been friends with her for eight years and I know how much she cares about our community and state, and how much volunteer time she's put into working for seniors, families, workers, education, renewable energy, and responsible government. She's a fiscal conservative who understands budgets and finance from her years in banking, starting as a teller and working her way up the ladder, when banks were still banks, not casinos. She's been a small business owner and understands their issues, she currently serves as vice-chair of the planning commission, and she knows that putting Nevadans back to work is a priority.
So before you go to the polls and vote according to the name that sounds most familiar or the "R" or "D" next to the name, take a few minutes to see what she's about. She's the one we need to hire to represent us in the assembly.
