The Real Reno U16 Girls team went undefeated in winning the Premier Division of the US Club Soccer Western Regional Championships held in Modesto, Calif. over the weekend.
With the regional title, Real Reno qualifies for the US Soccer Club 2010 Nationals to be held in Virginia Beach, on July 24-27.
Real Reno is a select girls team composed of players from Carson Valley, Reno, Sparks, Elko and Truckee.
Real is coached by Owen Blake, former U.S. National Team player.
In first round play, Real came out ahead 1-0 against Placer United, Prestige Black, with a second half goal by Douglas High's Shannon Prinz.
Shauna Day, Truckee, worked hard as goalkeeper to provide the shutout. In the second round of play, Real beat El Dorado United Eclipse with a 3-0 victory.
Morgan Allen, Spanish Springs, scored first, the second goal was scored by Haley Halloran, Damonte Ranch, and the third by Lindsay Hand scored from an assist by Tia Lyons, Douglas.
Goalkeeper Brianna Randall, also of Douglas, was exceptional in the shutout. The third round against Napa Elite ended with a 2-0 victory. Kayla Schlittenhart, Spanish Springs, scored from an assist by Prinz, and the second goal from Haley Halloran, Damonte Ranch, ended the match. Randall again provided the shutout.
Beginning their quest in December, this group of girls is very dynamic and skilled.
They have confidence in each other and spirit for the game. The entire team works hard for each goal and none would be complete without the dedication and talent of all of its players, the exceptional defense, midfielders and quick forwards.
