Stage 3 of the Northern Nevada Junior Satellite Tournament Series was hosted by the Incline Village Tennis Center in Lake Tahoe.
Madelyn Landerfelt, 11, won three rounds en route to claiming the girls 14 novice division title. In the finals, she overcame a very powerful opponent by her undaunted determination and athleticism 6-2, 7-5.
Sasha Edmunds, 11, won her second-straight girls 12 novice title with a finals score of 6-3, 6-0.
Cody Tindel, 15, competed in the boys 16 challenger bracket and lost in the first round to the eventual champion, 6-3, 6-4.
A week before Landerfelt competed in the NorCal-sanctioned Tahoe-Donner 12 challenger and lost in the finals 7-5, 6-3.
Since entering the NorCal girls 12 rankings in April, Landerfelt has moved up 90 spots and hopes to break into the top 100 this summer.
The next satellite event is set for July 30-Aug. 1 at Spanish Springs and features both singles and doubles.
